Sydney - the Oddities
There are no paper bills less than $5.00. There is a $1 and a $2 coin. The $2 coin is the size of a penny. The $1 coin is the size of a quarter. The size of a 20 cent piece is the size of a 50 cent piece. It seems that the smaller the value, the larger the coin. Joe said that if I see him walking down the street carrying a man hole cover, then he found a penny. Of course he's joking because there are no pennies. Everything is rounded up to the nearest nickel. The language here is slightly different than what we are used to. The "Yield" signs here say "Give Way." You don't rent a car here; you "hire" a car. A sign indicating a low ceiling didn't say "Watch your head." Instead it said "Mind your head." The public restrooms are simply called "Toilets". And a restroom for handicapped people is called a Disabled Toilet. All of the toilets here have two flush options, which are represented by a fully colored in circle, and a half colored in circle. I'll let you figure that one out on your own.

Kay. We missed you at breakfast yesterday, but were excited that you were on your trip. I just caught up with your postings and really enjoyed them. It's nice to have a vicarious adventure.
ReplyDeleteKay, Not to worry...I hear from Tom that Tucker is enjoying private dining and sleeping accommodations at his private NY resort. The staff however have not been able to find a tennis ball for his enjoyment. (I fear that his spa mates have hid them on him.) We will remedy that when I arrive this weekend. Den
ReplyDeleteWhat Kay failed to mention is that we did away with paper money a long time ago- our money really is plastic - both the folding money in our wallets and credit cards (which all have chips embedded in them)!
